Who We Are
Paul “Pablo” Karls grew up in Northern and Southern California, enjoying surfing, skateboarding, soccer, skiing, and the outdoors. Pablo developed an interest in art at a young age, which he carried with him into college.
After graduating high school in Sausalito, he moved to Lake Tahoe, where he attended Sierra Nevada College (now known as the University of Nevada, Reno at Lake Tahoe). Pablo graduated in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts in Art with a concentration in Watercolor. As part of his art courses, he was a student protégé of local Tahoe artists Frieda Klien and Madeline Bohannon, which further instilled his passion and appreciation for artistic creation.
After working at galleries and developing his framing skills to become a master framer, Pablo bought the frame shop he worked at in Tahoe City in 2007. He has continued to grow his business enthusiastically. Pablo is passionate about assisting people with designing and framing anything, including original art, photographs, prints, and memorabilia. In 2020, he moved the frame shop to Reno to the Shops at Bartley Ranch. Pablo continues to provide customized framing services in collaboration with his clients to achieve the highest quality piece and client satisfaction.
